Suspect Arrested in Coggon Home Invasion Case

Authorities have arrested a man for invading a home in Coggon.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office says 33-year old Brandon William Lee of Cedar Rapids was taken into custody early Wednesday afternoon.

Coggon residents Joseph and Sandra Henderson told authorities a man knocked on their front door on Maple Way around 6:30 pm Sunday – and when they answered the door, the man claimed to be a law enforcement officer and demanded entry into their home. Once inside, he demanded money and physically assaulted the couple before fleeing the scene in a vehicle.

The Hendersons, both 72 years old, were injured and transported to the hospital.

On Wednesday afternoon, investigators with the Linn County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from tactical unit deputies from the Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team, arrested Lee at 2429 Reynolds Avenue SW in Cedar Rapids. He was taken into custody without incident.

Lee was charged with two counts of First Degree Robbery, two counts of Willful Injury Causing Bodily Injury, First Degree Theft and Impersonating a Public Official. He’s currently being held without bond provisions in the Linn County Correctional Center and will appear in arraignment court on Thursday morning, where a judge will determine his bond status.

Sheriff Brian Gardner says this home invasion case remains an active ongoing investigation.
