With the snow that moved into the area Friday, it was a light schedule of area wrestling teams competing in tournaments on Saturday. Here is a look at the results for the teams that did compete.
In Marion: West Delaware won the Loyd Shaffer Invitational at Marion High School after the Perry Invitational they were scheduled to attend was canceled. The Hawks had five champions and scored 247 1/2 points which was 43 1/2 points better than 2nd place Linn-Mar. The five champions for the Hawks were Brayden Maury at 106 pounds, Carson Less at 120, Brent Yonkovic at 138 pounds, Logan Peyton at 152, and Wyatt Voelker at 195 pounds. Monticello finished in 9th place with 78 points as they were led by Mark Sunlin who was the runner-up at 120 pounds, and North Linn finished 11th and were led by Cael Bridgewater who finished 2nd at 138 pounds. In Cascade: Western Dubuque finished 2nd at the Cascade Invitational as the Bobcats were 25 1/2 points behind Union, LaPorte City for the team title. They had four finalists and came away with two champions as Logan Massey won the title at 170 pounds and Greyson Gardner claimed gold at 182 pounds. Beckman finished 15 points behind Western Dubuque in 3rd place as the Blazers had three finalists with Nick Schmidt being their lone champion by winning the 126 pound bracket. The host Cougars finished in 7th place and were led by Brock Morris who finished 2nd at 106 pounds. For complete results click HERE.
In Monona: Anamosa and Maquoketa Valley tied for 4th place at the MFL Invitational. Aiden Salow and Brady Davis won titles for the Wildcats, while Easton Wheeler, Miken Wheeler, and Austin Scranton all finished 2nd for the Blue Raiders. For complete results click HERE.
