Seven seniors will wrestle in their final regular season home duals tonight as West Delaware will welcome WaMaC Conference foes Beckman and Vinton-Shellsburg to the Seedorff Gymnasium. The seven Hawk seniors who will be recognized after the Hawks first dual against Vinton-Shellsburg are Blake Engel, Jadyn Peyton, Isaac Fettkether, Kyle Cole, Wyatt Voelker, Cody Monaghan, and TJ Soppe. This year’s seniors who are currently 11-3 have a three-and-a-half-year dual meet record of 75-7 and have won the last three class 2A State Duals Titles, and two out of the last three traditional team championships.
Beckman and Vinton-Shellsburg start things off at 6:00 with the first dual of the night which will be followed by the recognition of the Mini Hawk wrestlers and coaches. The Hawks will then take on Vinton-Shellsburg who they hold an all-time record of 43-5-2 dating back to November 21, 1959, and their record at home against the Vikings is 16-3-1.
Before the final dual which will feature West Delaware and Beckman, they will honor the seven Hawk seniors as well as the senior cheerleaders and administrative assistants. The Hawks will then put their 28 dual win streak against the Blazers on the line, as they lead the overall series 44-7-1 which dates back to 1968 and are 20-3 at home.
