HS Wrestling: Conference Tournament Recap

Saturday was the final week of wrestling tournaments before the post season as area teams competed in their conference tournaments.
In Solon: West Delaware had five champions and scored 278 points to win the WaMaC Conference tournament at Solon High School. The Hawks five champions were Carson Less at 120 pounds, Blake Engel at 132, Brent Yonkovic at 138 pounds, Kyle Cole at 170, and Wyatt Voelker at 195. Independence finished 2nd with 236 1/2 points and had three finalists as Kaden Kremer at 113, Tyler Weiland at 126 pounds, and Marcus Beatty at 182 who all finished 2nd. Beckman finished in 5th place and had three 3rd place finishers in Nick Schmidt at 126, Conner Grover at 160, and Owen Huehnergarth at 195 pounds. For complete results click HERE.
In Lisbon: Five area teams were at the Tri-Rivers Conference tournament at Lisbon High School. East Buchanan had three finalists in Tanner Thurn, Clay Wilgenbusch, and Cody Fox as they finished 3rd behind Alburnett, who finished 2nd and the team champion Lisbon. Starmont finished 4th as the Stars had two conference champions in Lane German at 113 pounds, and Louis Hamlett who was the 220-pound champion. Brady Davis of Maquoketa Valley was the runner-up at 220 to lead the Wildcats to a 5th place team finish, while North Linn finished in 6th and had three individual champions in Cael Bridgewater, Jarin Peyton, and Landon Paul. In Monticello: Monticello finished 3rd as they hosted the River Valley Conference tournament. The Panthers had three finalists in the tournament as Jonah Luensman, Mark Sunlin, and Kale Hansen all finished runner-up. Austin Scranton and Cole Sigler both won titles as they led Anamosa to a 5th place finish, and Cascade finished in 7th with one champion in Trever Freiburger. For complete results click HERE.
In Cedar Rapids: Western Dubuque finished 6th at the Mississippi Valley Conference tournament which was won by Linn-Mar at Cedar Rapids Jefferson. The Bobcats had one champion as Greyson Gardner won the 182-pound title. For complete results click HERE.
