Delaware County has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the state right now.
The latest numbers from Iowa Workforce Development show Delaware County’s unemployment in December was at 2.3% – that’s the lowest rate in eastern Iowa. Only around twenty other counties have lower rates, with Osceola County in far northwest Iowa the lowest at 1.6%.
Unemployment rates for other area counties include Buchanan at 2.9%, Dubuque at 3.1%, Jones at 3.2%, Linn at 3.3%, Fayette at 3.6% and Clayton at 4.4%.
Iowa’s unemployment rate in December was at 3.5%, while the national unemployment rate was at 3.9%.
