Eleven men were arrested in a two-day prostitution sting in Dubuque County this week, including the Dubuque County Treasurer.
Our news partner KCRG reports a joint operation was conducted by Dubuque Police, the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol.
The operation consisted of undercover agents posting ads on social media sites offering sexual services for money – and then they provided a hotel location for those who answered the ad.
Dubuque County Treasurer Randy Wedewer was arrested during the sting. A criminal complaint says Wedewer paid $75 for a sex act after responding to the ad – he was then arrested after arriving at Mainstay Suites in Dubuque.
Several Dubuque County men were arrested, including 21-year old Ryan P. Besler of Farley, 40-year old Joshua J. Vondran of Epworth, 55-year old Timothy Murphy of Peosta, 41-year old Kevin M. Bockenstedt of Sherrill and 59-year old Vincent J. Hanson Jr. and 57-year old Timothy J. McAndrews, both of rural Dubuque.
The investigation is ongoing and more charges are possible.
