Earlville Native Working on NASA Project at U of I

A recent college graduate who grew up near Earlville is busy working on a project for NASA.
Andrew Carton is an electrical design engineer for a NASA project at the University of Iowa.
He says the complete design review will take place next month.
Carton grew up a couple miles north of Earlville, graduating from Beckman in 2016. He says as a kid, he was always interested in computers and electronics – and he was able to explore it further when Beckman offered a couple of Project Lead the Way classes that introduced him to engineering. Carton chose to head down that path at the University of Iowa, earning his degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering in May 2020. Jobs were sparse as the pandemic was just beginning at that time, but a few months later he was able to join in on this project for NASA. He says he feels privileged and humbled to be a part of it.
Carton says he’s not exactly sure what he wants to do when this project wraps up, but he’d like to stay in the aerospace industry.
