Jeannine was born on June 1, 1928, in Clayton County, Iowa, the daughter of Frances Jane (Gleason) and Marvin Berns.  Jeannine is the last of her siblings to pass.  She was preceded in death by her youngest sister, Kathleen, an infant brother, Joseph, her eldest brother, Howard, and her sister Elaine Waters.

Jeannine fell in love with a farmer, Ervin Tucker.  They were married on August 4, 1947.  They were a successful farming team, working side by side.  Their first farm has remained in the Tucker name.  Jeannine was a businesswomen, her chicken money contributed weekly to the family budget.  Her garden fed her family all year long!  She was a great mother to eight children, two of whom have passed away as infants.

Jeannine continued to share her love of people by volunteering at the Lutheran Home in Strawberry Point.  She excelled in Catholic educational services at Saint Mary’s and became the Director of Religious Education.  Jeannine was an avid reader, learner, world traveler, and the best grandmother in the world.  Her love for nature kept her occupied and creative as she spent hours at her window in the home enjoying the squirrels and watching over her trees.  She did this as she spent the last years of her life taking care of her husband and sister while they were in the nursing home.
