Severe Storms Possible Later Tonight

Severe storms are possible later tonight.

The National Weather Service says much of eastern Iowa is under a Level 2 Slight Risk for severe weather, with the western portion of the KMCH listening area under a Level 3 Enhanced Risk for severe storms – that now includes the western half of Delaware and Clayton counties, northern and western Linn County and all of Buchanan and Fayette counties.

A few storms this afternoon and evening could produce hail, but the main severe threat will come late tonight after midnight as a squall line of storms moves into the area from the west. The main threat with these storms would be damaging winds and isolated tornadoes.

The National Weather Service encourages you to stay weather aware tonight – have a weather radio or some way of staying informed of severe weather and possible warnings during the overnight hours.

We’ll keep you updated of any potential watches and warnings – and break in with live coverage if severe storms develop – here on Mix 94.7 KMCH.
