Kandis “Kandy” Kay Reif, 63, of Clarence, Iowa, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2022, at Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha. She was born on September 12, 1958, in Manchester, the daughter of Carl and Shirley (Holden) Thurn, Sr. Kandy attended Edgewood High School and graduated from Capri Cosmetology School in 1989.
She owned and operated two beauty shops in Monticello and Greeley. Kandy then worked at several sale barns in the area. She was a para educator at Tipton Elementary. Kandy truly loved working with her kiddos. On November 16, 2008, Kandy was united in marriage to Dale Reif, in Cedar Rapids, and together they lived in Clarence.
Kandy’s hobbies most dear to her were raising and showing rabbits on a national level. She was an owner and breeder of KandyLand Dutch. Kandy also enjoyed raising her Diamond K Boer goats and hatching out poultry. She was a true farm girl. The loves of her life were her grandchildren and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband of 13 years, Dale Reif; her three children, Nikki Shannon of Maynard, Ryan (Tiffany) Bunting of Dundee, and Sara (Roger Maker) Davis of Strawberry Point; her step-children, Drew Reif, Scotti (Kacie) Reif, Sara Reif, and Marten (Sarah) Reif; nine grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; her siblings, Carl (Connie) Thurn, Jr. of Edgewood, James (Belinda) Thurn of Edgewood, David (Susan) Thurn of Cable, Wisconsin, LuAnn Hines of Manchester; and several nieces and nephews.
Kandy was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother-in-law, Deryl Hines.
Kandy loved the color purple and the family would appreciate if you wore purple to the visitation and funeral service.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 30, 2022, at Edgewood Bible Church in Edgewood, Iowa, with Reverend Jim Rinehart officiating.
Visitation: 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 29, 2022, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester, Iowa.
Interment: Edgewood Cemetery-Edgewood, Iowa
