Robert John Wegmann – Edgewood

Robert John “Bob” Wegmann, 81, of Edgewood, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loved ones, after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma. He was born on February 7, 1941, in Dyersville, the son of Joseph and Henrietta (Mensen) Wegmann. Bob was raised in the Greeley area and was a 1958 graduate of Greeley High School.

On June 18, 1966, Bob was united in marriage to Agnes Boeckenstedt at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Greeley. Five children were born to this union. Bob worked at Spahn and Rose Lumber Yard before beginning to farm. Bob and Agnes farmed together near Edgewood.  He also worked at K and A Farm Equipment in Strawberry Point.

Bob was a longtime member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Edgewood. He enjoyed playing slow pitch softball and being a member of the Greeley Rope Pulling Team. He also liked playing cards with his brothers. Bob enjoyed fishing for the “big one”, celebrating his hole in one, and tractor pulls. Bob loved his family and spending time with them.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 56 years, Agnes Wegmann of Edgewood; his four children, Doug (Lisa Kimball) Wegmann of Edgewood, Dennis (Chrystal) Wegmann of Edgewood, Sally (Kelly) Anderegg of Winthrop, and Traci (Mark) Funk of Waterloo; 11 grandchildren, Dustin Wegmann, Ashley (Steven) Connell, Colton Wegmann, Makenzie (Brody Bruns) Wegmann, Jordan Wegmann, Izacc (Jordyn) Anderegg, Danielle and Lacy Anderegg, Madison, Garrett, and Jenna Funk; one great-granddaughter, Clara Connell; his siblings, Don (Lavonne) Wegmann, Roger (Rosie) Wegmann, Wayne (Darlene) Wegmann, Danny (Mary Kay) Wegmann, and David (Helen) Wegmann; and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Henrietta Wegmann; a daughter, Susan Wegmann in 1979; one sister, Inez Engelken; a brother-in-law, Albert Engelken; and a brother, James Wegmann.

Mass of Christian Burial:  10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at St. Mark Catholic Church in Edgewood, with Rev. John Haugen presiding.

Visitation:  3:00 to 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at St. Mark Catholic Church in Edgewood, with a 6:30 p.m. Prayer Service.

Inurnment:   St. Mark Catholic Cemetery – Edgewood, Iowa
