Man Convicted of Killing Chris Bagley Pleads Guilty to Unlawfully Possessing Gun

The man convicted of killing Chris Bagley has pleaded guilty to unlawfully possessing a gun.

35-year old Drew Blahnik of Cedar Rapids appeared in federal court for a plea hearing on Monday. He was convicted of one count of possessing a firearm while being an unlawful user of meth and cocaine.

At the plea hearing, Blahnik admitted that in February 2019, he possessed a Glock .40 caliber handgun and multiple rounds of .40 caliber ammunition. He also admitted that at the time he possessed this gun and ammunition, he was prohibited from doing so because he was a knowing user of both cocaine and methamphetamine.

Blahnik was convicted of second degree murder last July in connection to the December 2018 death of Chris Bagley. He was sentenced to 57 years in prison.

Sentencing for his latest conviction will be set at a later date.
