Fire destroyed a Dubuque County home on Wednesday afternoon.
The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office says they were called to 15072 Highway 3 near Durango for a report of a structure fire around 1 pm. Fire departments from Sherrill, Asbury, Holy Cross, Dubuque, Epworth and Farley also responded.
When emergency crews arrived, the home was completely engulfed in flames. Two family pets trapped inside did not survive.
A neighboring home at 15078 Highway 3 sustained heat damage during the fire.
The Sheriff’s Office says the cause of the fire has not been determined, but at this time, it does not appear to be suspicious.
