Delaware County has the lowest unemployment numbers in the eastern Iowa.
The latest data from Iowa Workforce Development says Delaware County’s unemployment rate for May was one-point-seven percent. That’s nearly twice as low as the county’s rate a year ago, which was three-point-four percent.
The unemployment rates from surrounding counties include two-point-one percent in Buchanan County, two-point-two in Dubuque County, two-point-four percent in Clayton and Jones counties, two-point-five in Fayette County and two-point-seven percent in Linn County.
Iowa’s unemployment rate for May was two-point-seven percent. The U.S. unemployment rate was three-point-six.
