Independence and Fayette Vying for Custom Mural in Community Contest

Two area communities are vying for the opportunity to win a custom mural.

It’s part of Governor Reynolds’ #IowansUnite Community Contest. Over the past several weeks, the governor has invited cities, municipalities and economic development organizations to submit creative and inspirational videos showcasing how their community members support small businesses and celebrate the businesses’ importance to the community.

Independence and Fayette are among twenty-one communities that submitted a video – and you can vote for your favorite to determine the winner of the contest. Voting opened Wednesday and will be open for one week through 5 pm next Wednesday, June 29th. The communities that meet the vote threshold for their size will move on to the finalist round for their chance to win a mural as unique as their community.
