Rayma L. Fisher -Edgewood

Rayma Louise Fisher, 92, of Edgewood, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at the Edgewood
Convalescent Home in Edgewood.

She was born on October 11, 1929, in Edgewood, the daughter of Ralph and Luella (Hamlett) Pilgrim. Rayma was raised and educated in the Edgewood area graduating from Edgewood High School.

Rayma received her teaching certificate from Upper Iowa University in Fayette. She then taught at Elkader and then Lodomillo School District I until her marriage to Robert “Bob” Fisher on June 1, 1950 in Earlville. Two children were born to this union. The couple farmed, living south of Strawberry Point for a year before moving north of Edgewood. In 1958, Rayma and Bob bought the Fisher home farm northeast of Edgewood. They moved to town in 1978.

She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church her whole life. Rayma was an active member of United Methodist Women and many committees at church. She was also a member of the Edgewood Legion Auxiliary, Clayton County Farm Bureau and in the past a member of the Pythian Sisters. Rayma worked for many years at the Edgewood Library and for Carl Thurn Heating and Plumbing.

Rayma enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, and solitaire. She was never a fan of the television. Rayma
treasured spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her two children, Bonnie (Steve) Sanders of Dubuque and David (Mary) Fisher of Edgewood; six grandchildren, Amanda (Bryant Tanguay) Sanders, Chris (Lara) Sanders, Mark (Sarah Borchardt) Fisher, Craig (Morgan) Fisher, Gina (Joshua) Mashek and Tyler (Heidi Groenenboom) Fisher; and seven great- grandchildren.

Rayma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Fisher in 2018, her sister, Dorothy Keltner and two brothers-in-law, Robert Keltner and Kenneth Appleton.

Edgewood, Iowa.

Private Family Funeral Service: Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Edgewood, Iowa, with Pastor Mike Jackson and Pastor Kathy Rempe officiating.

Interment: Edgewood City Cemetery- Edgewood, Iowa
