Authorities say a girl drowned in the Cedar River at Palisades State Park on Wednesday.
The Linn County Sheriff’s Office says dispatch received an emergent call around 3:30 pm for a person who went into the water and began to struggle.
The victim has been identified as 11-year old Zyah Thomas of Cedar Rapids.
Numerous agencies responded, including Linn County Rescue and Lifeguard Air Ambulance.
Emergency responders remain on scene searching the river for the victim.
