Linn County Jury Convicts Man of Beating & Robbing Coggon Couple
A Linn County jury has convicted a Cedar Rapids man of beating and robbing a Coggon couple earlier this year.
A week-long trial wrapped up on Tuesday, in which 33-year old Brandon Lee was convicted on two counts of First Degree Robbery, two counts of Willful Injury, First Degree Theft and Impersonating a Public Official.
On January 9th, Lee displayed a badge and posed as an officer at the home of 73-year old Joseph Henderson and 72-year old Sandra Henderson in Coggon. Lee then violently attacked Mr. and Mrs. Henderson, causing Mr. Henderson to suffer serious injuries, including facial fractures, and Mrs. Henderson to sustain a deep laceration to her head. Lee also brandished a firearm and demanded to be taken to the safe, where he stole $50,000 from the couple. Evidence was introduced at trial that Lee knew the couple’s son.
Lee faces up to 77 years in prison. His sentencing is set for September 23rd.
