Alfred “Al” Lee Pritchard – Edgewood

Alfred “Al” Lee Pritchard, 83, of Edgewood, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at his home. He was born
on November 22, 1938, in his home at Elgin, the son of Walter and Margaret (Monahan) Pritchard. Al was raised and
educated in the rural Elgin area. He enlisted in the United States Army in December, 1957 and was honorably
discharged in 1961.

On November 3, 1967, Al was united in marriage with June Jeannette Zapf at Elkader. After their marriage, Al and June
lived around Littleport. In 1976 they purchased the A & J Tavern and ran it for over 23 years in Littleport where he
was well known for his Al Burger. The couple moved to Edgewood in 1999. Al sold feed for McNess Feed for many
years, worked as a milk truck driver, and a substitute rural mail carrier. In later years he sold cars for J’s Auto in
Manchester and enjoyed driving the Amish.

Al never met a stranger he didn’t know. He loved visiting with people, mowing lawns, driving his antique cars, eating
ice cream and fishing, especially ice fishing. Al was very proud that he was able to go on the Honor Flight. He
