A priest who once served at parishes in the Fayette and Buchanan county area has passed away.
Reverend John Paisley, known as “Father Jack”, died last Sunday, July 31st at his home in Dubuque. He was 86.
Father Jack was ordained a priest in 1962 and his parish assignments took him all over the Archdiocese of Dubuque. He served at St. Martin’s in Cascade from 1969 to 1970, pastor of St. Francis of Assisi in Fayette and St. Francis Xavier in Hawkeye from 1990 to 1992 and pastor of the parishes in Hazleton, Lamont and Strawberry Point from 1999 until his retirement in 2005.
After retiring, he served as chaplain at Clarke University and continued assisting the parishes in the diocese.
Services for Father Paisley were held last Thursday.
