Ag Informer – Roger & Jody Helmrichs to Be Inducted into Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame

Roger and Jody Helmrichs of Delaware County will be inducted into the 2022 Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame during a ceremony at the 4-H Exhibits Building at the Iowa State Fair on Sunday, August 21. Ninety-seven Iowa counties are participating this year and have selected 131 inductees for their outstanding service and dedication to 4-H. Inductees or their surviving family members will be presented a certificate as they are introduced on stage.

Roger and Jody will be recognized at 1:30 p.m. A reception will follow the presentations.

Roger & Jody Helmrichs have been involved with the Delaware County 4-H program in many capacities, which include Jody volunteering in the 4-H Food Stand during the Delaware County Fair every year and Roger serving as the go-to handy man, helping with repairs at the food stand and assisting in any way he can.

As the chairman of the Delaware County Extension Council, Roger’s leadership has helped the Delaware County 4-H program reach record breaking participation numbers.

The couple contributes financially to the Delaware County 4-H program by sponsoring several fair trophies, funding an annual scholarship for a graduating senior, and supporting the livestock auction at the fair by purchasing at least one animal from each species being sold every year.

Roger and Jody know it takes a lot of volunteers to support a successful 4-H program and they feel honored to be chosen for the 4-H Hall of Fame award among so many of these extraordinary volunteers.

The Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame was initiated in 2002 to help commemorate the 100th anniversary of 4-H. A summary of previous honorees will be on display at the 2022 Iowa State Fair in the 4-H Exhibits Building.

Information about previous inductees to the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame also is available on the Iowa 4-H Foundation website, organized by year and by county, at http://www.iowa4hfoundation.org/.
