Delaware County Couple Inducted into Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame
A Delaware County couple has been inducted into the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame.
Roger and Jody Helmrichs received the special honor during a ceremony at the Iowa State Fair on Sunday.
Roger and Jody have been involved with the Delaware County 4-H program in a number of ways over the years.
ISU Extension and Outreach of Delaware County says Roger’s leadership as chairman of the Delaware County Extension Council has helped the Delaware County 4-H program reach record-breaking participation numbers.
The couple also supports the 4-H/FFA Livestock Auction at the Delaware County Fair by purchasing at least one animal from each species being sold every year.
Jody says volunteering and giving back to the 4-H program is important because of the kids.
And Roger agrees.
The Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame was initiated twenty years ago to help commemorate the 100th anniversary of 4-H. This year, more than 130 inductees from 97 Iowa counties were inducted for their outstanding service and dedication to 4-H – all honored yesterday on the final day of the 2022 Iowa State Fair.
