Eastern Iowa Honor Flight Launching Flight #44

The Eastern Iowa Honor Flight in Cedar Rapids is launching Flight #44 later this month.

On Tuesday, September 20th, the program will be taking its next one-day trip to Washington D.C., giving the veterans on board an opportunity to visit the monuments and memorials built in honor of their service and sacrifice.

A total of 89 veterans are scheduled to board, with the group consisting of one World War Two veteran and four Korean vets, as well as veterans from Vietnam, the Cold War, Desert Storm and Iraq.

Since the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight began operations in 2009, a total of 43 flights have transported nearly four thousand veterans and their guardians to the nation’s capital. They accept applications from veterans in several counties, including Jones and Linn.

The Eastern Iowa Honor Flight is an entirely volunteer organization which does not receive any government funding. To support this mission through a donation, you can go to their website at eihonorflight.org. Donations can also be made via check by submitting a donation form or online via PayPal. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated.
