Technology is moving fast and this year’s special topics will address new technologies in both livestock and crop production with market updates on land, livestock, milk and crop commodities.

“Price risk management continues to be the major variable for profitability in many commodity enterprises while land has seen record inflation. Understanding the ag markets is a necessary part of lender portfolio management,” said Larry Tranel, dairy specialist with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. “This seminar has proven itself in assisting lenders and farm financial advisers in helping farmers manage that risk and understand new technologies clients might invest in.”

The topics include:

  • Milk Market and Dairy Risk Management Update (Mike North, principal at ever.ag).
  • Economics of Livestock Automation, automatic feeders, manure handlers and milking systems (Chad Huyser, president, Lely North America).
  • Economics of Autonomous Field Equipment (Craig Rupp, founder and CEO, Sabanto).
  • The Strength and Risk in Ag Land Values, (Chad Hart, crop market specialist and extension economist, Iowa State University).
  • How On-Farm Cyber Security Can Affect You and Your Clients, (Doug Jacobson, director, Center for Cybersecurity Innovation and Outreach, Iowa State University).
  • Livestock and Crop Market Update (Chad Hart, crop market specialist and extension economist, Iowa State University).

The cost of the program is $100 per person by Oct. 4. To register, contact Larry Tranel or Laura Klatt at the ISU Extension and Outreach in Dubuque County at 563-583-6496 or email  [email protected] or [email protected].
