Start of West Delaware School Year Going Well in Midst of Building Project

West Delaware students have been back in school now for more than two weeks – and school officials say it’s been going well in the midst of a major building project.

Superintendent Dr. Kristen Rickey says their first priority was to make sure they had fire marshal approval, which included the fire detection system to ensure that everyone was safe – and now they’re working on mostly conveniences and cosmetic finishes.

Rickey says they finished renovations to the welding lab on Monday, the woods lab on Tuesday and the auto lab is wrapping up this week too. But there’s still some work to do on the school’s libraries.

And she says the new bus lane has worked wonderfully for West Delaware at dismissal time.

Next year, the West Delaware building project moves to Lambert Elementary – with renovations and an expansion, including an expanded and more secure office space and air conditioning throughout the entire building.
