Arthur Schaul- Manchester

Arthur Schaul, 90, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away peacefully at his home on October 2, 2022, on the Feast Day of the Guardian Angels. He was born July 4, 1932, in Luxemberg to Aloyious and Viola (Stronck) Schaul. He received his early education at a rural school near his home in Masonville and later attended Lamont High School, now known as Starmont.

He married the love of his life, Elizabeth Uhlenkamp, at St. Mark Catholic Church in Edgewood on February 20, 1952. They farmed their entire life on a farm north of Masonville and retired to Manchester in 1999. Art was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Masonville for 86 years and the Knights of Columbus for 50 plus years. Art enjoyed dancing and painting in his younger years, playing cards, watching the birds and squirrels come to the feeders, and loved conversation with anyone that had the time. Those that spent time in the home of Art and Betty knew he had a deep love for the Guardian Angels which made his passing on the Feast Day of the Guardian
Angels heartwarming for the family.

Art will be deeply missed by his wife, Betty; their children, Carol (Jerry) Schneiter of New Vienna, Kathy Schaul of Epworth, Don Schaul of Manchester, John Schaul of Hopkinton, (special friend, Rene Miller of Anamosa), and Mary Lou (Mike) Gudenkauf of Masonville. Also cherishing memories of him are his 17 grandchildren; 41 greatgrandchildren; and one the way.

Siblings surviving him; Edmund (Sherry) Schaul of Manchester, Charles (Barb) Schaul of North Glenn, Colorado,
Duane Schaul of Cedar Rapids, and Marilyn (Rick) Miller of Manchester.

Art was preceded in death by his parents, Al and Viola Schaul; his grandson, Christopher Gudenkauf; and his
parents-in-law, John and Lena Uhlenkamp. Siblings that have gone before him are his brothers Paul (Marilyn)
Schaul and James Schaul, sisters-in-law, Shirley Schaul and Joyce Hermsen, and brother-in-law, Alfred Knipper.
