Dundee Man Sentenced for Being Prohibited Person Possessing Firearm

A Dundee man has been sentenced for being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.
The U.S. Attorney General’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa says 44-year old Matthew Welcher was sentenced earlier this month to two and a half years in federal prison.
Welcher pleaded guilty in April to one count of being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm. He admitted that, on May 24, 2021, he possessed a Savage Axis 6.5 Creedmoor caliber rifle after having been convicted of two felonies and a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence and while he was subject to a no-contact order.
In addition to his 30 month prison term, Welcher must also serve a three-year term of supervised release after the prison term.
