Delaware County to Remain Under Burn Ban Despite Rainfall

Delaware County will remain under a burn ban until further notice.

After consulting with the local fire chiefs, Delaware County Emergency Management Coordinator Mandy Bieber announced Tuesday morning that the ban would stay in effect. Bieber says while the county did receive around an inch of rain since Sunday night, the 10-day forecast is calling for more dry weather.

The burn ban applies to open burning.

Delaware County residents can still use their fire pits for recreational fires, and they can still burn their trash in a compliant container. The burn ban does not include the use of outdoor fireplaces, barbecue grills or properly supervised landfills, or the burning of trash in incinerators or trash burners made of metal, concrete, masonry, or heavy one-inch wire mesh, with no openings greater than one square inch.

The burn ban has been in effect since October 15th.
