Nancy Jean Hooton – Dyersville

Nancy Jean Hooton, 71, of Dyersville, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester. She was born on December 29, 1950, the daughter of Robert Violette and Dorothy (Stanley) Weets in Syracuse, New York. Nancy graduated from Maquoketa High School and attended Simpson College and majored in music.

On September 8, 1979, Nancy was united in marriage to Rodney Hooton in Iowa City and resided in Iowa City until moving to Petersburg. Nancy loved to play the accordion and was in the “Nancy and the Good Time Band”. She was talented seamstress and enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Nancy also enjoyed bird watching and loved music.

Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Rodney Hooton, her siblings, Martin “Scott” (Marla) Weets at Joplin, Missouri, Tom (Nanja) Weets at Knob Noster, Missouri, Shirley (Frank) Sallee of Livingston, Montana, Dale Weets of Wilton, Wayne Weets of Oskaloosa; Barb (James)Kemp of Delmar; Jerry (Heidi) Weets of Lockport, Illinois, Virginia (Craig) McCoy of Des Moines, Mary Joe (Paul) Gerts of Lost Nation; her cousin, Ed “Skip” Beam of Asbury; and several nieces and nephews.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Stanley Weets; her two brothers, Bob Weets and Keith Weets.
