The Delaware County Market Beef Weigh-In was held on Saturday, December 10th at NFO Livestock in Manchester. 4-H and FFA members who plan to exhibit market steers, market heifers, dairy beef, and Pen of 3 animals brought their projects to weigh-in to be identified, tagged, and weighed-in for the 2023 Delaware County Fair and the Iowa State Fair.
A total of 349 market beef animals were weighed in by 118 4-H and FFA members. Although slightly lower than last year’s total head of market beef that were weighed-in, we still have strong participation within the beef project area. Our 4-H and FFA members also have the opportunity showcase their learning with breeding beef and cow-calf projects.
Thank you to all the exhibitors, parents, and volunteers, especially the Delaware County Cattlemen and NFO Livestock for all your help during the weigh-in. With this many youth and cattle, it takes a large number of volunteers to make this possible.
After beef weigh-in 4-H members must enter all their beef weigh-in information in 4honline by February 1, 2023. Step by step instructions can be found on our website. If more assistance is needed, contact the Extension Office at 563-927-4201.
