Delaware County Emergency Management Reminders for Winter Storm

Roads have been partially to completely covered with snow in eastern Iowa on Thursday, with travel not advised at times throughout the day to our southwest in the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City areas.

Delaware County Emergency Management Coordinator Mandy Bieber is expecting “travel not advised” recommendations and road closures to eventually be issued for our area too as the winds pick up Thursday afternoon into Thursday night.

Bieber says Delaware County Emergency Management is making plans in case the county experiences widespread power outages – and you should make plans too.

The bottom line is that this winter storm should be taken seriously, especially when it comes to travel. And with many people wanting to get out on the roads to get to holiday gatherings, traveling may be something to reconsider.
