Janet A. Pech, 84, of Winthrop, Iowa, died peacefully on Friday morning, December 23, 2022, at Prairie Hills
Assisted Living in Independence.
Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 30, 2022, at Grace United Methodist Church, Lamont, with
Pastor Lisa Schroeder officiating.
Visitation: 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. Friday at the church
Interment: Madison Cemetery, rural Aurora, Iowa.
A Memorial Fund has been established for Camp Courageous.

Janet Ann Grapes was born on February 21, 1938, in Strawberry Point, Iowa, the daughter of Eldon & Beulah
(Starr) Grapes. Janet received her education at various schools in Fayette and Buchanan County, graduating
from Lamont High School in the class of 1956. Janet was united in marriage to Billy Dean Pech on October 21,
1956, at Grace United Methodist Church in Lamont, Iowa. They moved to Long Beach, California while Billy
served in the U.S. Navy. Janet and Billy returned to Lamont where they farmed south of town for many years.
Janet raised her children and was kept busy with her sewing, gardening, canning and actively helping Billy with
the farming. As time allowed, they enjoyed spending time at their cabin on the Mississippi in Guttenberg.
They later were happy to be able to build a new home north of Winthrop where Janet lived until recently
moving to Prairie Hills in Independence.
Janet was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church in Lamont where she was always ready to lend
a helping hand and had been a 4-H leader when her children were younger. Janet enjoyed spending time with
her family, especially her grandchildren.
Janet is survived by her 4 Children: Marsha (Dave) Perkins of Lamont &
Rick (Ann) Pech of Winthrop,
Mary (Ray) Dengler of Springville;
Mike (Tina) Pech of Winthrop,
10 Grandchildren: Alex (Kelli) Pech, Leslie (Blake) Franzen and Spencer Pech;
Emily (Chris) Sargent, Nathan (Marissa) Pech and Sarah Pech;
Jacob (Alle) Perkins and Derick Perkins and
Anna Dengler and Bryan (Jessy) Dengler;
12 Great Grandchildren and 4 on the way;
Sister: Beverly James of Scottsdale, Arizona;
2 Brothers-In-Law: Ronnie Hird of Marion & Robert Pech of Indio, California and
Nieces & Nephews.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Billy on February 14, 2002; 2 sisters: Sharian Hird and
Barbara Smith and 2 brothers-in-law: Moe James and DeWayne Smith.
