The City of Manchester has welcomed their newest police officer.
Ryan Miller was sworn into duty last Monday.
Miller, who was born and raised in southern California, has lived in Manchester for the past twelve years. He worked as a correctional officer at the Anamosa State Penitentiary for seven years before joining the Delaware County Communications Center as a 911 dispatcher a little over a year ago – and now he’s transitioning from a dispatcher to a police officer.
Starting as a 911 dispatcher isn’t common for police officers, but Miller thinks that will give him a unique perspective when he’s out responding to a call for help.
Miller says he’s looking forward to his new role for a couple of different reasons.
