Northwestern Mutual’s ‘Prom With a Purpose’ Raises Over $10,000

Manchester’s Prom With a Purpose has raised $10,867.92 as part of Northwestern Mutual’s corporate commitment to ease the financial and emotional burdens of families fighting childhood cancer.

“We are always amazed at the compassionate support our financial professionals and staff, their family and friends, and our community show for our childhood cancer programs,” said Mitch Peyton, Wealth Management Advisor of Northwestern Mutual – Manchester. “Together, we can achieve our goal to raise funds for childhood cancer research and support the families fighting the disease.”

Prom With a Purpose was held on November 5 at St. Patrick’s Gym in Ryan which invited both Northwestern Mutual staff and local community members to join in an 80’s themed dance and live auction.

Northwestern Mutual launched its national philanthropic focus on childhood cancer in 2012 to find better cures and treatments for childhood cancer while also providing family, patient, and survivor support. With the help of its employees and financial advisors nationwide, the program has contributed more than $28+ million to the cause, funding more than 565,000 hours of research.

The program also leverages nonprofit partners, including ALSF, to help more kids and families live life to the fullest. The Eastern Iowa District has also pledged $100,000 to two funds at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital by 2027. The first is the Northwestern Mutual Eastern Iowa Pediatric Oncology Research Fund and the other is the Northwestern Mutual Eastern Iowa Pediatric Oncology Nursing Support Fund.

Northwestern Mutual is planning to make Prom With a Purpose an annual event, with this year’s date tentatively set for October 28th at the Ryan Gym.
