Eligibility Requirements Changed for Delaware County Dairy Royalty Candidates

The Delaware County Dairy Banquet is coming up in March – and the Dairy Promoters are seeking candidates for this year’s royalty.

They’re changing the eligibility requirements. This year, after some consideration, the board has elected to follow new guidance from the state.

Anyone who resides in Delaware County and who has a demonstrable connection to the dairy industry may apply. For instance, anyone who’s parents or grandparents dairy farm or work on a dairy farm may apply. Other connections include being involved in showing dairy cattle, dairy youth programs, or having parents work in allied industries such as nutrition, veterinary, etc.

The board will ultimately have final discretion in establishing if an applicant has sufficient connection/interest in the industry. They’ll continue to follow the same age guidance – princesses must be 16 by March 1st but no older than 23, while little Miss Squirt and Mr. Herdsman must be in kindergarten thru 2nd grade.

Applications are due by Wednesday, February 1st.

To receive the application packet, or answer any further questions, please reach out to the Delaware County Dairy Promoters through their Royalty Coordinator Nicole Engelken at 563-608-6937, via their Facebook page or via email at [email protected]

The current 2022 Delaware County Dairy Royalty includes Dairy Princess Sydney Demmer, Alternate Dairy Princess Dannielle Burkle, Little Miss Squirt Anna Zumbach and Little Mr. Herdsman Trent Knipper (pictured below).

New royalty will be crowned at the Delaware County Dairy Banquet, which is set for Saturday, March 4th.
