Darlene Ann Wood, 69, of Strawberry Point, Iowa, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023, at her home. She
was born on July 12, 1953, in Postville, the daughter of Harold LaVernne and Dorothy May (Kurth) Peterson.
Darlene was raised in the rural Farmersburg area on the family farm and graduated from MFL. She then joined the
Job Corps.
On September 22, 1979, Darlene was united in marriage to Carl Wood at Norway Lutheran Church in St. Olaf. Four
children were born to this union. Darlene was a CNA and a day care provider.
Darlene enjoyed collecting strawberry items, salt and pepper shakers, and bells. She also enjoyed gardening,
canning her produce, and baking. Darlene was always busy in the kitchen. She most enjoyed spending time with
her family especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Carl Wood of 43 years; four children, Tracy (Brent) Wilker of Waverly, Daniel
(Sara) Wood of Richland Center, Wisconsin, Carolyn Wood of Elkader, and Tim Wood of Strawberry Point; three
grandchildren, Brayden, Ella, and Bryant Wilker; her mother Dorothy Becker; siblings, Allen (Julie) Peterson,
Darrell Peterson, Dennis Peterson, and Julie (Paul) Schlake; and many nephews and nieces.
Darlene was preceded in death by her father, Harold Peterson; and her brother, Arlyn Peterson.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Strawberry Point,
with Pastor Kate Johnson officiating.
Visitation: 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Strawberry
Point, Iowa. Friends may also call Thursday at the church between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m.
Interment: Cass Township Cemetery – Strawberry Point, Iowa
