Independence School Board in Process of Finding New Superintendent

The Independence School Board is in the process of finding a new superintendent for the district.

The Board met in closed session last Wednesday to review the applicant pool. A total of eighteen people applied for the position – four female candidates and fourteen male candidates. Several candidates have superintendent or central office experience.

The Board will screen six applicants through a closed session Zoom meeting on Tuesday. Finalists for the Independence superintendent position will be publicly announced by Friday.

The new superintendent will be replacing Russ Reiter, who has been with the Independence Community School District since 2018.
