Driver Arrested for Fatal 2021 ATV Crash Near Edgewood

The driver involved in a deadly ATV crash in Edgewood nearly two years ago was taken into custody on Saturday.

The Delaware County Attorney’s Office says 26-year old Hanna Meese of Edgewood has been charged with Homicide by Vehicle – Operating While Intoxicated.

On Sunday night, May 2nd, 2021, Meese (whose last name was Koloc at the time of the crash) was driving an ATV on Woods Edge Drive when she lost control on a curve. Both she and her passenger, 32-year old Jordan Cabalka of Edgewood, were ejected from the ATV. Cabalka died from his injuries.

The Iowa State Patrol arrested Meese on Saturday and she was booked into the Delaware County Jail. She was released the same day on $25,000 cash bond.

The Delaware County Attorney’s Office says there are currently no other associated charges. Meese’s initial court appearance has been set for March 22nd.

The Iowa State Patrol tells KMCH their agency is unable to provide any further details since the case is in litigation. The Delaware County Attorney’s Office also tells KMCH they’re not able to further discuss anything related to the case at this time – including why the arrest came nearly two years after the accident.
