Nearly 300 Swine Weighed In for Delaware County Fair

Nearly three hundred swine were weighed in for the Delaware County Fair on Saturday.

Around eighty 4-H and FFA members showed up with their fair projects for the Swine Weigh-in at the fairgrounds in Manchester, with 283 head of swine tagged and identified for the Swine Show.

Delaware County Extension says swine numbers continue to stay steady for Delaware County. Last year, 291 swine were weighed in by 80 exhibitors.

Exhibitors now have just over 100 days until the fair, where they will showcase their finished swine projects.

The 2023 Delaware County Fair is set for July 10th through July 16th, with the Swine Show on Friday, July 14th starting at 8 am.

Exhibitors who identified swine will have the choice to exhibit their swine in either the Breeding Gilt, Derby, or Market classes at the Swine Show. Swine showmanship for junior, intermediate, and senior members will also be judged at the fair.

Reminder to all 4-H members who brought swine to the weigh-in to enter your swine weigh-in data in 4honline by May 15. County Staff will verify and/or correct animal identification information after members have entered their swine data. If you have questions or need assistance with this process, contact the Delaware County Extension Office at 563-927-4201.
