Makers Honored with Manchester Chamber’s Friend of Ag Award

A Strawberry Point couple has won the Manchester Chamber’s Friend of Ag Award.

Jerry and Mary Maker have owned and operated the Edgewood Livestock Commission for the past 28 years. The Chamber honored the Makers during Thursday’s Ag Luncheon for being an important part of the local ag community.

The Edgewood Livestock Commission is one of only a few salebarns that remain in the area.

Iowa Secretary of Ag Mike Naig was the keynote speaker at the Manchester Chamber’s Ag Luncheon, speaking to farmers, ag business leaders and local FFA students.

Secretary Naig says it’s a hopeful time for farmers as they get ready for a new season with spring planting.

FFA students from West Delaware, Maquoketa Valley, Ed-Co and Beckman Catholic attended the luncheon and participated in a Career Fair on Thursday morning as well.
