Gazebo Removed from Manchester’s Shelly Park

The gazebo along the Manchester Whitewater Park is no more.Â
The gazebo was removed on Saturday morning as part of the Shelly Park redevelopment project. City Manager Tim Vick explains why they decided to take it down.
Vick says the other part of the equation is the cross slope – it can’t be tilted more than 2% in any direction.
The gazebo will be getting a new home in Manchester. The top part of the gazebo was saved and has been moved a few blocks up the street to 500 North Franklin Street at the southeast corner of Tirrill Park, which is where the old funeral home used to sit. That building was removed a couple years ago, with plans to turn that empty lot into a green entrance space for the park.Â
The City says they’re hoping to get the gazebo project done this spring.
Meanwhile, the Shelly Park redevelopment project has begun, with everything removed. You’ll notice work really starting to roll there over the next few weeks, with the project set to wrap up before the start of the summer.
