Burn Ban Issued for Linn County

A burn ban is in effect for Linn County.

The request was made by Robins’ Assistant Fire Chief. The State Fire Marshal agrees, saying that conditions in Linn County are such that open burning could lead to a danger in life and property.

The burn ban went into effect at 10 am today. Open burning is prohibited in Linn County until further notice.

As of Tuesday night, seven other counties in Iowa were also under burn bans. The six other counties in the KMCH listening area – Delaware, Dubuque, Buchanan, Jones, Clayton and Fayette – are currently not under a burn ban.

However, the National Weather Service says there is a very high fire danger for all of those counties due to the unseasonably warm and dry conditions, coupled with the gusty southwest winds. That fire danger will remain a risk through the end of this week.
