Delaware County Moving Forward with Selling Old Bank Building to Milestones

Delaware County is moving forward with selling the old bank building.
County Supervisor Jeff Madlom says Milestones Group, a CPA firm in Manchester, has submitted a bid for the property.
The County had purchased the building, which used to house Community Savings Bank, in 2019 for $599,000.Â
And Madlom says once they got into the building, problems started popping up.
Madlom says at least a dozen people have looked at the building, with the County holding two bid openings for the property. The first bid submitted by Matthew Schulte and Mitch Peyton for $275,001 last spring was rejected by the Board. At that time, the building was still assessed at $800,000. Since then, the County Supervisors have had the building re-assessed, with its new assessment at $540,000.
Madlom says he understands some county residents haven’t been happy with the bank building situation these last few years.
The old bank building is not officially sold to Milestones just yet – Madlom says that should become official early next week.
Once the sale of the old bank building wraps up, the County Supervisors will turn their focus to the old jail. Madlom says the architect who designed the new jail will take a look at the old jail and recommend the best route for its future – either remodel it or tear it down and build a new addition.
