Manchester Man Possessing Firearm as Felon Sentenced to Prison

A Manchester man who possessed a firearm as a felon was sentenced on Tuesday to almost five years in federal prison.
34-year old Timothy Tirrell Brown received the prison term after pleading guilty last November to one count of possession of a firearm by a felon.
At the guilty plea, Brown admitted that, on July 24, 2021, he knowingly possessed a firearm, a Smith & Wesson M&P-15, 5.56 NATO AR pistol with an attached 30-round magazine, as a prohibited person. A Hardin County deputy sheriff found the loaded firearm behind the front passenger seat of the car Brown was driving following a traffic stop. Brown was prohibited from possessing a firearm because he was previously convicted in Jackson County, Mississippi, of one count of Felony Sale or Transfer of Cocaine and two counts of Felony Possession of Cocaine in 2007, and one count of Felony Hindering Prosecution in the First Degree in 2014.
Brown was sentenced in Cedar Rapids by United States District Court Judge C.J. Williams to 57 months in prison. He must also serve a three-year term of supervised release after the prison term.Â
Brown is being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until he can be transported to a federal prison.
