NWS Confirms March 31st Tornado Northeast of Greeley

It’s been two weeks since the tornado outbreak across eastern Iowa.
And the National Weather Service has confirmed that three separate tornadoes touched down in Delaware County on Friday night, March 31st.
The third tornado confirmed earlier this week touched down three miles northeast of Greeley at 5:41 pm. It was on the ground for three minutes, traveling northeast nearly three miles. The tornado damaged trees and left scour marks in a farm field. No one was injured. The tornado measured about 90 yards wide. It has been rated an EF-0, which is the weakest rating on the Enhanced Fujita scale, with estimated winds of 65 to 85 miles per hour.Â
The tornado northeast of Greeley seemed to be from the same storm that dropped the other two Delaware County tornadoes in Manchester and Oneida.Â
So far, the National Weather Service has confirmed twenty-four tornadoes in its Quad Cities office coverage area from the March 31st outbreak. You can find a map of those tornado touchdowns below.
