Outdoor Burning Not Recommended Across Eastern Iowa

All of eastern Iowa remains under a Red Flag Warning through at least Thursday night.

Delaware County Emergency Management Coordinator Mandy Bieber says that means we’re under an extreme fire danger.

Bieber recommends that everyone avoid any outdoor burning through the end of the week.

Firepits and grilling are still okay, but Bieber says it might be best right now to just hold off.

Burn bans are in effect for several counties in the area, including Dubuque, Clayton and Jones, where outdoor burning is prohibited. But Delaware County is not under a burn ban at this time.

The Red Flag Warning is in effect until 8 pm tonight. Cooler weather with a chance of rain is in the forecast for this weekend.
