Delaware County Holding Public Hearing on Sale of Old Bank Building

This afternoon, Delaware County residents will have an opportunity to share their thoughts about the proposed sale of the old bank building in Manchester.

The County Board of Supervisors purchased the old Community Savings Bank building on East Main Street a few years ago and renamed it the Courthouse Annex, with the intention to move a couple of offices there. But when it became apparent that requirements for the building’s upgrades would be too costly, the Supervisors decided to sell the building instead.

The Board opened a second round of bids earlier this month, with an offer of $401,000 from Milestones Group, a CPA firm in Manchester that is currently located in the Advanced Eyecare Associates building along West Main Street. The County had originally purchased the building for $599,000 – just under the $600,000 threshold which would have required a public vote.

Before the sale becomes official, the County needs to hold a public hearing on the issue. The public hearing will be held today at 1:15 pm at the Supervisors’ Office at the courthouse.
