Four People Safe Following River Rescue in Buchanan County

Four people are safe following a river rescue in Buchanan County on Friday night.
The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office says around 6:30 pm, they received a 911 call reporting that four people were kayaking on the Wapsipinicon River south of Littleton when some of the kayaks started taking on water, causing two of the people to go into the river.Â
One of them made it to shore before losing sight of the others. Deputies and fire/rescue personnel were immediately dispatched to the area. The Buchanan County Sheriff’s drone team was also deployed.
About an hour later around 7:30 pm, the drone had located the three other people on the river just north of the Otterville Access as fire/rescue crews were getting to the area via boat. They were all returned safely to shore.Â
No injuries were reported.
