Ryan Woman Found Guilty of Killing Boyfriend in 2021

A Ryan woman has been found guilty of killing her boyfriend.
35-year old Danielle Weiner was convicted of Second Degree Murder by a Dubuque County jury on Monday.
Weiner had pleaded not guilty in the death of 27-year old Devon Hierrazuelo of Oak Lawn, Illinois.
Hierrazuelo was found dead at the Shady Acres Apartments on Belknap Street in Ryan on February 8th, 2021. The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office says Weiner called 911 to report that her boyfriend had been shot – five minutes after a neighbor called 911 reporting an argument and gunshot. Weiner told authorities an unknown male had entered the apartment and had been arguing with Hierrazuelo in the kitchen/living room area when the shooting took place.Â
But the Sheriff’s Office said further investigation determined the victim had been shot in the bedroom, with his body then moved down the hallway to the kitchen/living room area. A bullet casing was found in the bedroom, as well as a handgun with blood on the end of the barrel. Authorities say there were no signs of forced entry into the apartment and no tire tracks in the fresh snow.
Weiner had since changed her claim to self-defense, with her attorneys using that argument during trial this past week.Â
Sentencing has not yet been set.
