Delaware County Elected Officials Receiving Salary Increases

Delaware County’s elected officials will see an increase in their salaries.
County Attorney John Bernau and County Sheriff John LeClere will receive a seven and a half percent increase, bringing their annual salaries to approximately $118,000 and $102,000 respectively.Â
All other elected officials in Delaware County will receive a six-percent increase. The increase will bring the salaries for County Auditor Carla Becker to approximately $82,000, County Treasurer Pam Klein and County Recorder Daneen Schindler to approximately $77,000 each and County Supervisors Shirley Helmrichs, Jeff Madlom and Pete Buschmann to nearly $44,000 each.Â
Delaware County’s compensation board met in December to consider recommendations for the elected officials’ wages based on comparable positions in the county and state. The compensation board recommended a ten-percent increase for the County Attorney and County Sheriff, with all other elected positions recommended for an eight-percent increase. The Delaware County Board of Supervisors chose to lower those amounts.Â
Over the past decade, the average increase approved by the Board is around 3%.
The salary increases will go into effect for the 2023/24 fiscal year beginning July 1st.
